Foodie Stuff Fit For a King – Yarra Valley Preserves King’s Birthday Party Food

Once a King always a king….  I can’t remember the next line, but you probably get my drift.

Firstly, I don’t know about you, but I’m struggling to say King’s Birthday Weekend instead of Queen’s Birthday Weekend.

But then, that doesn’t mean I won’t be having a gathering of friends with lots of fab King’s Birthday Party Food.

I own a food factory afterall

– it’s expected!!!

AND…

For one, it’s darn cold in the Yarra Valley, Australia, in winter as the snow falls close by onto Mount Donna Buang.  That works as a good excuse to eat to keep warm.

For two, it’s nice to curl up by a fire with a noice cordial, mulled spicy drink or an Espresso Martini – with a platter of Yarra Valley Preserves Chutney, Relish, Mad Dog Chilli Jam and Piccalilli Pickles – with cheese and bickies of course.

For three, it’s a bit crowded, but you can still have a foodie menage a troi of sorts (unlike the traditional type – that we won’t go into).  I’ll leave all that alone and just let you use your imagination on that one.

For Four, you could plan a dinner party and serve up a gorgeous slow-roasted beef, basted with our new Saltbush & Black Garlic Mustard, served with a fresh lettuce mix sprinkled with a Balsamic Salad Splash, a side-serve of crunchy chips and Mountain Pepper Tomato Ketchup (that’s Aussie for posh tomato sauce), and end the night with an Apple Daiquiri Dessert featuring our yummy Apple Sauce with a hint of cinnamon.

For (after) Five, you could wear something flash or your birthday suit (like leave your hat on – or don a tie at least) and break out some fresh King Prawns (for the King’s birthday – get it?) with our tangy Seafood Sauce, or cook a whole King Fish (I’m on a roll).

For (after) Six – you can get a little flushed by tucking into some Hot and Spicy Mad Dog Xtra Bite Spicy BBQ Sauce on a Hot Dog or a sausage in bread – and no, I am not a Kiwi with one of those funny accents, so don’t feel I’m alluding to something naughty 🙂

For Seven, it’s about time to serve up the horses douvers (I make no apology for the spelling) – maybe some croutons with Caramelised Balsamic Onions and fetta, some corn chips with Mad Dog Chilli Salsa and a sprinkle of shaved parmesan, or some lamb koftas dipped in Tomato Relish.

For Eight, it’s a great time for the main course – featuring Stir Fry Vegetables with Wok Toss, Chicken Wings with Sticky Glaze and our Black Garlic & Wild Thyme Worstershire Sauce as a shellfish or poultry marinade.

And for nine – maybe add some vodka to your Pine Lime Cordial, watch a movie on Netflix and just have a snooze!

I reckon that little checklist is a ten out of ten.

Whatever you do for the King’s Birthday Long Weekend Party Food, just enjoy it, eat well and treat yourself to Yarra Valley Gourmet Foods that will tantalise your tastebuds – AND make you and your friends feel right royally spesh!
